Millie L. Herrman, a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Alexandria who did volunteer work with the Girl Scouts and her children’s athletic teams in Northern Virginia, died May 30 at a hospital in Murrells Inlet, S.C. She was 77.

The cause was chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other ailments, her sister Pat Heflin said. Mrs. Herrman lived in the Washington area for nearly five decades, including more than 25 years in Alexandria, before retiring to South Carolina in 1983.

Mildred Anne Lynn was born in Washington, where she graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in 1954. After high school, she did secretarial work at the U.S. Tax Court. From 1974 to 1983, she was an administrative assistant with the Fairfax County school system.

Her memberships included Woodlawn Country Club, now known as Mount Vernon Country Club.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Herbert S. Herrman of Pawleys Island, S.C.; four children, Cindi Fagan of San Diego, Sue Grolton of Williamsport, Md., Gruff Herrman of Toms Brook, Va., and Katie Bowers of Stafford, Va.; a sister, Pat Heflin of Alexandria; and six grandchildren.
