Nadine Steward, 82, who taught Sunday school at Ravensworth Baptist Church in Annandale for nearly two decades beginning in the 1980s, died Nov. 17 at her home in North Springfield.
She had breast cancer, said her son Mark Steward.
Mrs. Steward also did volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and American Gold Star Mothers, an organization of mothers who have lost children in military service. Her son, Pfc. Jerry Steward, died in 1970 while serving in the Marine Corps in the Vietnam War.
Wilma Nadine DuBois was born in Afton, Okla., and settled in the Washington area in 1962.
Her husband of 56 years, Wendell W. Steward, died in 2005. Survivors include two sons, Jack Steward of Fairfax Station and Mark Steward of Golden, Colo.; a sister; and two grandchildren.
