Peter M. Caun, 83, who retired in 1985 as a primary patent examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, died Nov. 26 at a nursing center in Sligo, Pa.
He had congestive heart failure and multiple myeloma, said his son Michael Caun.
Peter Michael Caun was a Pittsburgh native and a 1957 industrial engineering graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He joined the patent office in 1957.
After retiring, he moved to Winchester, Va., from Washington. Last year, he moved to Knox, Pa.
His marriage to the former Sally Connor ended in divorce. Their son Anthony Caun died in 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Matthew Caun of Brookville, Pa., and Michael Caun of Knox; and five grandchildren.
