R. Drew Medford, 28, a member of the Prince George’s Muslim Association, died Nov. 1 at his home in Glenn Dale.
The cause was heroin intoxication, according to Maryland’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Rodney Andrew Medford was born in Tacoma, Wash., and took the name Jahleel when he became a Muslim several years ago.
He moved to the Washington area with his family and graduated in 2003 from Tall Oaks Vocational High School in Bowie. In recent years, he had worked as a server at a Chili’s restaurant in Bowie.
Survivors include his wife of three years, Rashidah Habeebullah of Baltimore; his mother, Dr. Gailann S. Medford of Glenn Dale; a brother, Bryon T. Medford of Glenn Dale; and his maternal grandmother, Mary Stewart of Glenn Dale.
