Robbie L. Dean, CIA spouse, dies at 92

Robbie L. Dean, a former FBI secretary and CIA officer’s wife who had accompanied her husband on overseas assignments, died May 27 at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. She was 92.

The cause was sepsis, said her daughter, Nancy Dean.

Mrs. Dean, a Bethesda resident, worked for the FBI during World War II. During her husband’s career, she accompanied him to postings in South America and Europe. They settled in the Washington area in 1974.

Robbie Lee Elizabeth Shepherd was born in Magnolia, Miss., and attended what is now Western Kentucky University.

Her husband of 62 years, Warren Dean Sr., died in 2007. Survivors include two children, Warren Dean Jr. of Potomac and Nancy Dean of Austin; and a brother.
