Ruth M. Richards, 80, who worked in real estate in Northern Virginia for 35 years, died May 17 at a hospital in Harrisonburg, Va.
She had complications from cancer, her son Jeffrey L. Landis said.
Mrs. Richards retired in the mid-1990s from McEnearney Associates, where she worked for about 20 years. She had worked previously for Hicks Realty, Panorama Realty and other firms.
Ruth Aldrich McCoid was born in Philadelphia, and she spent part of her childhood in Germany, where her father was stationed by the Army.
She was an Alexandria resident before retiring to Sarasota, Fla., in 1996, and she had lived in Harrisonburg for the past six years.
Her marriages to Lincoln Landis and George Kenney ended in divorce.
Her husband of 21 years, Paul B. Richards, died in 2007.
Survivors include three sons from her first marriage, Jeffrey L. Landis of Harrisonburg, Dean B. Landis of Baltimore and Lincoln A. Landis of Taos, N.M.; four stepchildren, Barbara Richards of Gaithersburg, Steven Richards and Meagan Richards, both of Kensington, and Paula Richards of Salisbury, Mass.; a brother; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
