Ruth R. Emme, who taught music at Montgomery County middle schools in the early 1970s, died July 9 at Villa Rosa Nursing Home in Mitchellville. She was 94.
The cause was heart disease, said her daughter, Sandra Emme.
Ruth Marie Rance was born in Elk Horn, Iowa, and graduated in 1941 from Morningside College Conservatory of Music in Sioux City, Iowa. She was a music teacher in schools in Michigan and Alabama before moving to the Washington area in the late 1950s.
She lived in Silver Spring, where she was a member of Marvin Memorial United Methodist Church.
Her husband of 43 years, Eugene Morlock Emme, died in 1985. Survivors include three children, Stephen Rance Emme of Arlington, Stuart Morlock Emme of Burtonsville and Sandra Jean Emme of Upper Marlboro; a sister, two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
