Saul Janov, 101, who retired in 2001 after 66 years as a retail men’s clothing salesman, died March 20 of pneumonia at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington County.
His son, Paul Janov, confirmed the death.
Mr. Janov, an Arlington resident, was a salesman at the Jos. A. Bank men’s clothing store at Loehmann’s Plaza in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County from the late 1970s until the mid-1980s. In 1987, he moved to New York City to take a sales position at a textile company. He retired from sales at age 90 and, in retirement, returned to the Washington area.
Saul Janov was born in Mahanoy City, Pa., and raised in Hazleton, Pa. From 1935 to 1960, he worked for his father’s shirt business. He moved to New York City in the late 1930s and was vice president of a men’s clothing company before moving to Northern Virginia in 1977.
He donated reading materials to the Thomas Jefferson Library in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County.
His wife of 71 years, Theodora Ziegler Janov, died in 2006.
Survivors include a son, Paul Janov of Bethesda; and two grandchildren.
