Thomas L. Bichy, a professor of physical education, coach and director of athletics at the Rockville campus of Montgomery College, died March 1 at Montgomery Hospice’s Casey House in Rockville. He was 69.
The cause was complications from Alzheimer’s disease, said his son, Brian Bichy.
Mr. Bichy was on the staff of Montgomery College at Rockville from 1968 to 2004. As men’s soccer coach, his record was 471-166-47, including 12 state junior college championships. He was also an assistant men’s baseball coach. He was director of athletics from 1982 until 2004.
Thomas Lee Bichy was born in Baltimore. He graduated in 1966 from the University of Maryland, where he also received a master’s degree in physical education in 1968.
He was a resident of Olney, where he was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Elaine Banachowski Bichy of Olney; two children, Chrissy White of Hagerstown, Md., and Brian Bichy of Rockville; and three grandchildren.
