Reece and Rob Scheer were married in the District soon after it was legal for them to do so. Then they adopted four children. After the Supreme Court struck down a key element of the Defense of Marriage Act, they, like many other same-sex couples, celebrated the security and peace of mind the decision provided to them and their family.
