One dead, three injured in Silver Spring crash

A Wheaton man was killed in a head-on collision in Montgomery County early Saturday that left three others injured, police said.

A 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan was traveling north in the 11700 block of Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring about 2:40 a.m. when it apparently crossed the divide and struck a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV in the southbound lanes, Montgomery police said.

Oscar Alexander Orellana, 18, a front-seat passenger in the Infiniti, died at the scene. The car’s driver, Cristian Omar Vargas, 19, of Wheaton, and a rear-seat passenger, Kyle Robinson, 23, of Kensington, were taken to a hospital for injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, police said. The SUV’s driver, Edwin Alexander Rivera, 25, of Silver Spring, was also taken to a hospital. The accident remains under investigation, police said.
