One killed in Gainesville townhouse fire

One person is dead following a two-alarm fire that broke out in a Gainesville townhouse early Thursday, authorities said.

The blaze began around 4:30 a.m. in a townhouse in the 8400 block of Tackhouse Loop.

Fire officials in Prince William County said several people were rescued, but one person, whose identity was not released, died in the incident.

The fire has been extinguished and remains under investigation, officials said.
