District police arrested a 37-year-old man Tuesday and charged him in a fatal shooting last month in Northeast Washington, according to authorities.

Decordre Franklin of Northeast was charged with second-degree murder while armed. He was arrested by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force about 7:15 a.m.

Police said Franklin is charged in the killing of Irving Jones, 33, also of Northeast, who was shot shortly after 2 a.m. on March 30 in the 600 block of Edgewood Street NE, outside the Edgewood Terrace complex.

Police said Jones died at a hospital of a gunshot wound to the chest. Police did not describe a motive or what led them to Franklin.
