Police investigate apparent murder-suicide in Gaithersburg parking garage

Montgomery County police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that took place late Sunday in a Gaithersburg parking garage.

Investigators found the man and woman, who they believe may have been married and separated, inside a Raven Avenue parking garage, a department press release said.

Officers found David Lee Reid Jr., 38, suffering from a gunshot wound around 11:20 p.m. Sunday, according to the release. Capt. Paul Starks said that authorities, who were nearby when they heard gunshots, also found Michelle Rena Reid, 39, hiding between parked cars.

Police said that Michelle Reid, who was armed with a handgun, then shot herself. The pair were both taken to an area hospital, where both died of their injuries.

Investigators believe that Michelle Reid shot David Reid. Police said that they were living at different addresses, both in Gaithersburg.

Anyone with information may contact the Montgomery County Police Department’s Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
