Powerball ticket worth $1 million purchased in Leesburg

Virginia lottery officials are urging Powerball players to check their tickets this morning — someone, they say, could be $1 million richer.

The winning numbers in Saturday’s drawing were 3-7-21-44-53, with a Powerball number of 16.

One ticket matched the first five numbers, missing only the Powerball number, officials said. It was purchased at the Sheetz convenience store on Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg.

The winner has 180 days from the drawing date to claim the prize. Officials advise that before doing anything else, the winner should sign the back of the ticket to establish ownership. The winner can then call 703-494-1501 or 804-692-7000.
