Pekingese mix at eviction site: 5400 block, Livingston Terr., Oxon Hill, Aug. 22. Animal management received a call about a 5-year-old brown male Pekingese mix dog found at the site of an eviction. An animal control officer picked up the dog, and it was reunited with its owner Aug. 24.

Gray tabby cat found: Atwell Ave. and Sperry Stream Way, Bowie, Aug. 20. A man called about a stray cat that he tied to a branch after it kept following him. An animal control officer picked up a 10-month-old gray female tabby domestic shorthair cat. The owner was located, and the cat was returned home Aug. 22.

Put a lid on it: 4000 Forestville Rd., District Heights, Aug. 24. Someone reported seeing a raccoon acting wild and chasing children. The caller said that the raccoon had jumped into a trash can and that a lid was placed over it. An animal control officer picked up a healthy black raccoon and returned it to the wild.

Injured squirrel: 8700 Branch Ave., Clinton, Aug. 27. A police officer called animal management to report being on the scene at a business where an injured squirrel was up in the rafters. An animal control officer removed the squirrel. The animal was taken to a wildlife rehabilitator.

Shelby finds a home: Fernham Lane, District Heights, Aug. 8-22. Animal management received a report of a stray dog running loose. An animal control officer responded but was unable to find the dog. On Aug. 14, a second call came about the same dog. When the officer was unable to find the dog again, he set up a feeding station to try to catch it. On Aug. 22, an animal control officer picked up a brown-and-white female English bulldog, 1 to 2 years old, and took it to the animal services facility. Staff members named her Shelby, and she was adopted Aug. 28.

Silver Spring adoption show:

The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions, noon-2 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart: 12020 Cherry Hill Rd., Silver Spring.
