Stray dog lounges at school: 5200 block, Boydell Ave., Oxon Hill, Nov. 5. Animal management received a report about a stray dog running behind a school. An animal control officer picked up the 8-year-old white male rat terrier. The dog was returned to its owner Nov. 10.
Dog with black eyes: 4800 block, 68th Ave., Hyattsville, Nov. 5. A woman reported going home from the hospital and finding a stray dog in her yard. She said that the dog’s eyes looked black and that it might be blind. An animal control officer picked up the 6-year-old buff-colored female cocker spaniel. The dog was reunited with its owner Nov. 7.
Loose in shopping plaza: 12100 block, Enterprise Rd., Bowie, Nov. 6. A man reported that he had found a stray dog running loose in the Mitchellville Plaza shopping center and that he was holding the dog in his car. An officer picked up the 9-year-old male Pomeranian. The dog was returned to its owner the next day.
Horse is out: Brandywine and Gibbons Church roads, Brandywine, Nov. 9. An animal control officer caught a stray horse that was reported to be running loose. The horse was returned to its owner that day.
Poodle mix found: 10300 block, Highboro Way, Lanham, Nov. 9. A person who had been keeping a stray dog for a few days said the dog disappeared when it was let out to urinate and returned a few days later. An animal control officer picked up a black female poodle and Shih Tzu mix. The dog was reunited with its owner the next day.
Humane Society volunteer orientation: The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society will host an orientation session for those interested in volunteering at the shelter or other society events.
