Peacock in trap: 1900 block, Berry Lane, District Heights, Jan. 17. A person reported a peacock caught in a trap set to catch a nuisance animal. An animal control officer removed the wild bird and took it to a wildlife rehabilitator.
Roaming the halls: 9700 block, Good Luck Rd., Lanham, Jan. 18. Someone reported a large dog running loose inside the hallways of an apartment building. An officer picked up a 9-month-old rust-colored female Doberman pinscher and Labrador mix. When not claimed, the dog was adopted Jan. 30.
Cane Corso pup on porch: 15600 block, Wellingham Ct., Accokeek, Jan. 18. A woman called animal management to report a stray dog on her porch that was preventing her from entering her home. An animal control officer removed a 6-month-old brindle-colored Cane Corso mix. When not claimed, the dog was adopted Jan. 30.
Stray beagle found: 4200 block, Powdermill Rd., Beltsville, Jan. 22. A woman requested pickup of a stray dog that had been on her porch all day and refused to leave. She said she placed the dog in a box with a towel to keep it warm. An animal control officer removed a 11 / 2-year-old tricolor female beagle. When not claimed, the dog was taken to a rescue group Jan. 29.
