Dog on the run: 4800 block, Cooper Lane, Hyattsville, Feb. 10. A man reported holding a dog that he had seen running loose for more than three days. An animal control officer picked up the 5-month-old tan male German shepherd. When not claimed, the dog was adopted Feb. 21.

Found at eviction site: 8500 block, Greenbelt Rd., Greenbelt, Feb. 11. A rental office employee called animal management to request pickup of a dog in a crate that was left behind when its owner was evicted. An officer removed the 5-year-old gray female poodle and miniature bichon mix. The dog was reunited with its owner Feb. 18.

Snake in basement: 4300 block, Newton St., Brentwood, Feb. 13. A woman reported seeing a snake inside the basement of her home. An animal control officer removed the healthy black snake and returned it to the wild.

Deer on porch: 1400 block, Kingsgate St., Bowie, Feb. 15. A woman reported a deer on her front porch. An officer picked up the female deer. It was taken to a wildlife rehabilitator.

Cat and dog adoption event: The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 12020 Cherry Hill Rd., Silver Spring. The pets’ foster owners will answer questions and accept adoption applications. Adoption fees are $75 for cats, $180 for dogs. For information, call 301-262-5625 or visit
