Three people were found fatally shot Friday in a house in Prince George’s County in what police said they are investigating as an apparent double murder and suicide.

The victims, described as two women and a man, were found in a townhouse in the 1500 block of Addison Road South, in the District Heights area.

County police said officers went to the townhouse about 4:40 p.m. to investigate a report of a shooting. When they arrived, the officers were able to see that one woman in the house was dead, said Officer Harry Bond, a police spokesman.

He said officers forced their way “into the house to attempt to save the others inside.” A second woman and a man were taken to hospitals, where they were pronounced dead, Bond said.

No names or ages were given for the three. Bond said he could not disclose the victims’ relationships to one another. He indicated that investigators believe that it was a domestic-related incident.

Police said they thought the man shot both women and then himself.

Police did not say whether any weapons were found in the house, and Bond said investigators were trying to piece together details of the incident. No motive was known.

A neighbor, who was interviewed by telephone at her home, said police did not appear to be searching for anyone in the area.

She said officers had not come to her house to warn her to remain inside.

She said the house was part of Pickwick Square, which she described as a cooperative development built more than 30 years ago.

The development is about a mile south of Central Avenue and three miles west of the Capital Beltway.
