After a string of larcenies from vehicles last month, the City of Manassas Police Department has provided the following tips to prevent vehicle break-ins.
→Always stow items out of sight before arriving at a destination.
→Close vehicle windows and lock doors at all times. If you use a remote key, make sure the vehicle is locked before walking away.
→Leave exterior lights on overnight to illuminate residential driveways.
→Park in a well-lighted, populated area. Avoid parking where your vehicle might become concealed, such as by larger vehicles, shrubs, dumpsters or fences.
→Consider installing a car alarm.
→Take an inventory of all valuables, including serial numbers, photographs and other identifying information.
→Report all suspicious activity to police.
