Prince William County budget focus of meeting Saturday

The 2014 fiscal budget process will be the subject of a community meeting beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday in board chambers at the McCoart Administration Building, 1 County Complex Ct., Woodbridge.

The Prince William County Office of Management and Budget will discuss the economic update and the anticipated effect on county revenue, as well as long-term budget choices.

Manassas Lioness Lions Club collecting books for students

The Manassas Lioness Lions Club is accepting donations of used books to give to area students during school book fairs beginning in January.

Books in good condition for students in K-12 can be dropped off through the end of November at three locations: Manassas Park Police Department, 329 Manassas Dr., Manassas Park; Manassas Police Department, 9518 Fairview Ave., Manassas; and Gainesville United Methodist Church, 13710 Milestone Ct., Gainesville.

Free cab rides home available for revelers on Halloween

Free cab rides will be available in Prince William County from 10 p.m. Oct. 31 to 4 a.m. Nov. 1 through the Washington Regional Alcohol Program’s SoberRide program.
