Women’s forum focuses on inspiring success

A Women’s Leadership Conference, sponsored by the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, will run from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Continental Event Center, 9705 Liberia Ave., Manassas.

Focused on inspiring success, this year’s event will feature keynote speaker Brenda Blisk of Blisk Financial Group. Blisk’s presentation will address financial independence for women.

The event will include workshops on “Making Networking Work for You” and “Building Your Resiliency Toolkit.” Gail Johnson of Rainbow Station will provide a lunchtime presentation, “Success: The Ability to Outrun Failure.”

NVCC begins registration for spring semester

Open registration for Northern Virginia Community College’s spring semester begins Monday. The 16-week semester starts Jan. 14.

Students may register at any of the six campuses or at www.nvcc.edu.

Manassas Lioness Lions Club seeks books for kids

The Manassas Lioness Lions Club is accepting donations of used books to give to area students during school book fairs beginning in January.

Books in good condition for students in kindergarten through high school can be dropped off this month at the Manassas Park Police Department, 329 Manassas Dr., Manassas Park; Manassas Police Department, 9518 Fairview Ave., Manassas; and Gainesville United Methodist Church, 13710 Milestone Ct., Gainesville.

Governor’s School to host information sessions

The Governor’s School @ Innovation Park, which offers high school students college-level courses focused on math, science, engineering and technology, will host two information sessions for people to learn about the application process.

The sessions will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 17 and Jan. 19 at George Mason University, 10900 University Blvd., Manassas. The program is open to rising juniors at Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park public schools.
