Prince William officer honored for fighting drunken driving

Prince William County police Officer Jeremy A. Schenck was among 11 area law enforcement officers recognized by the Washington Regional Alcohol Program for their “outstanding commitment in the fight against drunk driving in greater Washington.”

The officers were honored last week during the nonprofit organization’s annual Law Enforcement Awards of Excellence for Impaired Driving Prevention ceremony in McLean.

Lions Clubs make Christmas boxes for military overseas

Members of the military serving in Afghanistan and Kuwait will have holiday gifts this season, thanks to seven Prince William County Lions Clubs.

The clubs of Dale City, Lake Jackson, Manassas Host, Manassas Lioness Lions, Montclair, Park West and Woodbridge collectively assembled 96 Christmas boxes, which will be mailed to various bases overseas.

The boxes include personal care items, playing cards, DVDs and handmade Christmas cards from the Baldwin Elementary School rocket club.
