There will be an informational meeting on becoming a host family for French students at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bull Run Regional Library, 8051 Ashton Ave., Manassas.
Through the Paris-based Loisirs Culturels A l’Etranger, French students 14 to 19 will visit for three weeks this summer to experience U.S. life.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors will honor local service members with an Armed Forces and Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday at the War Memorial in Freedom Park, on the grounds of the McCoart Government Complex, 1 County Complex Ct., Woodbridge. The ceremony is open to the public.
Ana Mayra Irizarry-Vaughan, a math teacher at Freedom High School, received the Victoria D. de Sanchez Northern Virginia Hispanic Teacher of the Year award from the Hispanic Youth Foundation this week.
Irizarry-Vaughan has been a math teacher for more than 35 years and developed the Advanced Placement calculus program at the Woodbridge school.
As summer approaches, the Prince William County Police Department advises residents to stay away from wild and unfamiliar animals. Even animals that appear tame might be infected with rabies.
The Animal Control Office offers these anti-rabies tips:
→Have your pets and/or livestock vaccinated.
→Limit the possibility of exposure by keeping animals on your property. Do not let pets roam free.
→Do not leave garbage or pet food outside where it could attract wild or stray animals.
→Do not treat wild animals as pets.
→If your pet is attacked or bitten by another animal, or if you see an animal acting strangely, call animal control at 703-792-6500.
