Patriot High School to host Environmental Expo on Oct. 29

Patriot High School’s Environmental Conservation Organization will host an Environmental Expo from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29.

The event will introduce middle and high school students to environmental science and careers in the field. Companies and nonprofit groups will discuss volunteer opportunities and summer programs that teach students about environmental issues.

The free expo, which is open to the public, will be at Patriot High, 10504 Kettle Run Rd., Nokesville. For information, call 703-594-3020.

Middle school specialty programs information night

Prince William County will have an information session on middle school specialty programs from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Kelly Leadership Center, 14715 Bristow Rd., Manassas.

Fifth-graders and their parents will learn about the programs and the application process, and program representatives will answer questions.

Graham Park, Marsteller and Rippon middle schools have math and science programs. Beville, Godwin and Stonewall middle schools offer the International Baccalaureate program. Woodbridge Middle School has a same-gender program. Fred M. Lynn, Lake Ridge and Parkside middle schools offer world languages programs in Spanish and French.

Hylton Planetarium will present laser light shows

The Irene V. Hylton Planetarium at Hylton High School, 14051 Spriggs Rd., Woodbridge, will host several laser light shows Friday.

The shows are: “Fright Light,” at 6 and 6:50 p.m.; “Laser Metallica,” at 7:30 and 8:20 p.m.; and “Fright Light, Louder and Scary” at 9 and 9:50 p.m. The last two shows will be much louder and might not be suitable for everyone.

Registration ends Friday
for adult GED, ESOL classes

Adult education classes for residents of Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park will begin Oct. 28.

Registration for General Educational Development and English for Speakers of Other Languages classes ends Friday. Both courses are open to adults 18 and older.

Tuition for most classes is $165. No children are allowed at registration.

Registration will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Adult Learning Center, Building 4, 14800 Joplin Rd., Manassas.
