A 16-year-old District teen was shot to death early Sunday in Southeast.

Police identified the victim as Kareem Palmer of Southeast. Officers found him suffering from a gunshot wound about 1 a.m. in the 1300 block of Maple View Place, about a block south of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. Paramedics transported Palmer to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests were announced. Palmer’s death was the 165th homicide in the District this year, compared with 143 at the same time last year.

Police asked anyone with information about the homicide to call 202-727-9099 or send a text to 50411. A reward of up to $25,000 is available for information leading to a conviction in the case.
