The Congress Street shooting was reported about 8 p.m., and within an hour and a half, another multiple shooting was reported, this one in the 2300 block of 15th Street NE. As many as three people may have been wounded in that incident. Fire officials said three were taken to hospitals.

Two other people were shot in other incidents Sunday.

What appeared to be the latest of the day’s shootings occurred about 11 p.m. in the 3800 block of Hayes Street NE.

The first of the shootings apparently occurred about 7:45 a.m. when a struggle broke out during a carjacking in the 2200 block of Evarts Street NE, police said. The victim had tried to intervene in the carjacking, according to the police account.
