A 30-year-old woman is on the run after she left a 2-year-old boy and a baby whom she was babysitting unattended outside their apartment in Dumfries, Va., police say.

Police in Prince William County said Amanda Sue Allen of the 3200 block of Burbank Lane in Woodbridge is wanted on charges of felony child neglect and giving a false identity to law enforcement.

The incident unfolded just after noon Saturday in the 3500 block of Briarwood Drive when police officers responded to investigate a report of child neglect. When they arrived, they found the boy and an 11-month-old girl unattended outside their apartment, according to a police statement.

Officers found the babysitter asleep inside the children’s home. At some point during the investigation, Allen allegedly climbed out of a back bedroom window and left the area.

Police also realized that she had given a false name to law enforcement and was wanted for a probation violation. They are still searching for her.

The children were released into the custody of a family member. They were not injured.

Allen is a white woman with red hair and green eyes, police said. She stands about 5-foot-8 and weighs about 225 pounds, according to a police description.
