A firefighter suffered a minor injury while fighting a blaze that started in the basement of a home in Northwest Washington.
The fire broke out Monday morning at a three-story home in the 1800 block of Park Road NW, near 18th Street NW in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood.
The civilians inside the home were able to safely escape, according to Vito Maggiolo, a spokesman for D.C. Fire. It was not immediately known what caused the blaze, which is under investigation.
In a tweet, firefighters said the fire was mainly coming from the basement of the single-family home and was knocked out relatively quickly. It was not known what kind of injuries the firefighter suffered, although they were said to be minor, according to a tweet from the fire department.
Some roads in the area were closed for a while in the morning, as crews were on the scene.
