The same assailant sexually assaulted three women in three separate incidents Monday by grabbing or slapping them as he rode past on a bicycle, D.C. police said.

Two of the incidents occurred in the Navy Yard area, and one was on Capitol Hill. All occurred during daylight hours, according to police.

No serious injuries were reported.

In the first incident, a woman was slapped on the right buttock, police said. The incident occurred about 2:10 p.m. in the 1200 block of New Jersey Avenue SE.

In the second incident, police said, a woman told them her left buttock was grabbed. It occurred about 5:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE.

According to a police report, a third incident occurred about 7 p.m. in the 1300 block of First Street SE. The woman told police that her left buttock was slapped as the assailant passed her on a bicycle.

Police characterized the incidents as misdemeanor sexual abuse.

They released a surveillance photograph of someone they described as a possible suspect.
