The body of a woman was found Friday in a commercial part of the Wheaton area in Montgomery County, and police criminal investigators were looking into the death.
The body was found two blocks from where a woman had finished her restaurant job earlier this week just before vanishing. Police said they could not immediately link the death and the disappearance. But they said they would try to determine if a connection existed.
The body was found about 3:30 p.m. behind a business at Hickerson Drive and Elkin Street, said Officer Rick Goodale, a spokesman for the county police. The site is just northeast of University Boulevard and Georgia Avenue in the Wheaton area.
No cause of death was immediately known, and the woman's name was not released.
Just after midnight on Monday, Dania Suyapa Mendez De Guerra, 21, had left the KFC restaurant where she works.
She normally walks to her nearby home, police said. But she did not return home after work on Monday, they said.
