Firefighters responded to an early morning fire Tuesday at the Capital Hilton hotel in downtown Washington that authorities said may have started in the laundry room.
Dozens of hotel guests and staff were evacuated and standing outside the building in 40-degree temperatures as fire officials investigated. Officials with D.C. Fire and EMS said the fire was in the basement of the hotel, which is located near 16th and K streets NW.
In a Twitter message, fire officials said no one was injured. Some roads in the area were blocked as authorities dealt with the incident.
