3 Fairfax County police officers injured during chase of homicide suspect

Three Fairfax County police officers were injured during a car chase involving a homicide suspect that ended with the person’s capture on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Fairfax County police did not immediately identify the suspect but said the person was thought to be wanted on a murder charge in Prince George’s County.

Police tweeted around 12:40 p.m. that the person ran from his or her vehicle after a chase and was taken into custody on the bridge, which spans the Potomac River on the Beltway.

The three officers suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and were taken to the hospital for observation, police said. Authorities did not immediately say how the officers were injured or when the chase began.
