A vehicle struck and injured a child on a Southeast Washington street Thursday night, District authorities said.

D.C. Fire and EMS and police crews were called for the report of a child being hit in the 3000 block of Southern Avenue just before 7 p.m., according to agency spokesman.

The child’s condition was not immediately available. The police department’s Major Crash Unit, which investigates all serious vehicular accidents, was called to the scene, said Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokesman.
