Cassidy Karakorn, 39, an executive with the Human Rights Campaign, was killed in a traffic collision Saturday night in the District while operating a motor scooter.

Police said her scooter collided in the 1100 block of Florida Avenue NE about 11:15 p.m. with an auto that was making a U-turn on the avenue.

Karakorn had been with the Human Rights Campaign, a civil rights organization, since 2001, according to her LinkedIn Page, and was its director of consumer marketing.

The Refinery29 website described her as a “ familiar face in D.C.’s most creative circles,” and said she had also worked as a DJ. Washington Life magazine listed her in its “guide to Washington’s most influential 40-and-under leaders.”
