D.C. police late Friday arrested a Southeast man in connection with the fatal shooting of a District man on Thursday.

Police arrested Melvin Lee, 34, in connection with the shooting of 19-year-old Kevontae Jones in the 100 block of Danbury Street SW. Lee was charged with second-degree murder.

The shooting occurred about 5 a.m. in the 100 block of Danbury Street SW, in the Bellevue community near Blue Plains and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory.

There have been six homicides in that community this year, compared with three at this time in 2014.
