A District woman was heralded as courageous after D.C. police say she pushed a would-be burglar out of her home after the man pushed his way into the house during an attempted, mid-day home invasion.
According to police, at around 3:25 p.m. Friday, two men approached a home in the 500 block of Kimi Gray Court in Southeast. One of the men stood outside as a lookout while the other man walked up to the house and rang the woman's doorbell. When the woman opened her door, the man pushed his way into the house. The woman and the male suspect struggled inside the house until the woman was able to push the man out the house and call police.
Police say the woman did not know either man.
Police arrested Ervin Blackledge, 46, of Southeast and Perry Lee Smith, Jr., 41, of Woodbridge, Va. and charged them both with first-degree burglary.
