A driver was killed Sunday near the edge of Capitol Hill in a hit-and-run crash apparently involving juveniles, D.C. police said Monday.

Brian Johnson, 30, of Northeast Washington, was driving a car that was hit about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at 14th and C Streets NE, police said.

The car that struck his was going west in the 1400 block of C Street and went through a red light before the collision, police said.

The driver and the passenger of the car that struck Johnson’s vehicle got out of the car and fled, the police said. Both appeared to be juveniles, said Officer Sean Hickman, a police spokesman.

The site of the crash is just east of the northeastern edge of the Capitol Hill historic district.
