A 67-year-old man was charged with fatally shooting his daughter and her husband during an argument at the family home in Annandale on Wednesday, Fairfax County police said.
Authorities said Hiep Van Le argued with his son-in-law Dang Ngo, 45, and his daughter Sophia Le, 40,at the home in the 3400 block of Beverly Drive. Hiep Van Le pulled a gun and fired, wounding both family members, police said in a written statement.
A family member called police to the scene around 1:30 p.m. for the report of a shooting. Officers found Ngo dead in the yard and his wife injured inside, police said. Sophia Le was transferred to the hospital, where she later died.
Two young girls and a teenaged boy were home at the time of the shooting but they were unharmed, police said. They were not identified.
The incident prompted authorities to call out a SWAT team, dispatch a helicopter and warn nearby residents to temporarily shelter in place as Hiep Van Le briefly stayed armed inside the home. A short time later, police entered the home and arrested him.
Authorities charged Hiep Van Le with two counts of second degree murder, the statement said.
