A man was taken into custody at a house in Fairfax County Monday night at the end of a long standoff, the police said.
They said it began after a domestic assault was reported at a house in the Centreville area. They said the victim, a woman, was treated for minor injuries at the scene, in the the 14500 block of Golden Oak Road.
She and others in the house left safely, but the man refused to come out, said Officer Mike Crutchman, a police spokesman. The police surrounded the area, to ensure safety, they said. The incident began around 3:30 and continued for about six hours.
Finally, police said, the man was confronted in the house and taken into custody.
It was not clear exactly what happened during the confrontation. But police said the man was being taken to a hospital to be checked.
The man was not immediately identified and the relations among all those in the house could not be learned.
