An FBI agent and his wife died Wednesday in an apparent murder-suicide in Anne Arundel County, police said.

Special Agent David Raynor, 52, and Donna Fisher, 54, were pronounced dead outside a home in Crownsville, Md., Anne Arundel County police said.

Officers were called to the house shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday when a woman called 911 to report that she had been asked to call authorities by a woman who was being attacked by her estranged husband, police said.

Officers found Fisher with apparent stab wounds, and Raynor had stab wounds and what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Anne Arundel police said homicide detectives are investigating and that the bodies were taken to the office of the medical examiner for autopsies.

FBI officials said Raynor had been employed by the FBI’s Baltimore field office since 2003 and had been an agent since 1996. FBI officials declined to comment on the incident other than to say that the incident was not related to Raynor’s work.
