Two fires broke out in the D.C. region overnight and early Monday morning.

No one was seriously hurt in either blaze.

One of the incidents happened just before 3 a.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Silver Beech Road in Herndon. Fairfax County firefighters said they responded to the area and found a two-story, single-family home on fire. Two adults and three children got out of the home safely, officials said.

The other fire occurred around 6 a.m. Monday in the District along 3100 block of New Mexico Avenue NW just off Nebraska Avenue NW near American University. D.C. Firefighter officials said there roughly 80 firefighters involved in getting the two-alarm blaze under control.

Both fires remain under investigation.
