A former middle school aide and high school track coach in Maryland pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal child pornography charges involving 10 minors.

Carlos DeAngelo Bell, 30, of Waldorf coerced children to engage in sexually explicit conduct to produce child porn from 2014 to 2016, according to a statement from the U.S. attorney's office in Maryland.

Bell, who was a track and field coach at Charles County high schools and an instructional aide for Charles County public schools, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of sexual exploitation of minors for the purpose of producing child pornography.

Bell worked at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School in Southern Maryland and was put on leave in December 2016 after allegations first surfaced.

Bell's attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

Federal prosecutors will recommend that Bell be sentenced to 150 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt on March 27.

Charles County parents were additionally alarmed after authorities revealed that Bell was HIV-positive. Investigators say they do not think that any of his victims were infected with HIV, but Bell pleaded guilty this month in state court to the attempted transmission of HIV, along with 26 other child sex charges involving 42 victims between the ages of 11 and 17.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in Charles County in April.
