Human remains were found Saturday in a burning car in Prince George's County, the county police said. They said they are conducting a death investigation, and trying to determine details of the incident.

The remains were found in the 1500 block of Southern Avenue, the police said. The discovery was made by firefighters after being called there for the fire, according to the police.

The remains were described as those of an adult. No gender or cause of death was given. It was not clear what caused the fire. Southern Avenue forms the boundary between the District and the county. On the District side of the boundary, the United Medical Center is not far from the scene of the discovery.
