A man who was stabbed Wednesday afternoon near Children’s National Medical Center in Northwest Washington has died, according to D.C. police, who said they are looking for his adult son as a suspect.

The stabbing occurred about 3:10 p.m. in the 100 block of Michigan Avenue NW, near a hospital parking lot and across the street from several medical clinics. It could not be determined whether the victim or his son had any connection to the hospital or the other medical institutions.

Police said the victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. “Suspect is his adult son and has fled the scene,” the department noted on its Twitter feed.

Authorities did not name the son but described him as black and wearing a white shirt and black pants. They said he was carrying a green shirt.
