D.C. police released surveillance video that shows a man firing at least one round from a gun down an escalator at the Columbia Heights Metro station on Aug. 25. (D.C. Police Dept.)

D.C. police were searching for a man who fired at least one round from a gun down a Metro escalator in Columbia Heights in midday, according to authorities and surveillance video made public Monday night.

Police said it does not appear anyone was struck by the gunfire Friday about 12:15 p.m. at the Columbia Heights Metro Station in the 1400 block of Irving Street NW. It is located at a busy shopping center with a Target, Best Buy and other outlets.

The video shows two men chasing another man along the street. One man is holding a gun in his left hand; the other is repeatedly putting his hand in his waistband. The video shows one man at the top of the escalator shooting down the moving the stairs, and then running away.
