A man who was shot Saturday night in the Carver-Langston neighborhood of Northeast Washington has died from his injuries, according to D.C. police.

The victim was identified as Tavon Lamar Cox, 41, who lived in the Reisterstown area of Baltimore County, just northwest of Baltimore city.

Police said Cox was found shot inside a vehicle a few minutes after 8 p.m. Saturdayin the 700 block of 24th Street NE, a residential street just off Benning Road.

He was taken to a hospital, where police said he died Sunday.

A police report listed drugs as a possible factor in the shooting. The report indicates that before he died, the victim told police he was involved in a transaction with two other people through the front driver’s side window, and one of the people “pulled out a pistol and shot him in the head.”
