A man set himself on fire on Maryland’s Eastern Shore Tuesday during an argument with his girlfriend, the state police said.
They said the man pulled his car in front of hers, on Route 213 in Queen Anne’s County about 1:30 p.m., causing her to stop. The man, identified as Deny Richard Coursey, 42, of Centreville, got out if his car and approached hers with a fuel can in his hand, according to police. The woman was identified as Jamie Lee Richarts, 35, also of Centreville.
Police said both are from Centreville.
After a brief argument outside the woman’s car, the man doused himself with fuel and set himself on fire, the police said.
They said he returned to his car and went to a hospital with burns, and is to be transferred to a burn center.
Police said they thought the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute the two were involved in Monday night.
