A man was shot and killed Tuesday inside a residence in Northwest Washington’s Columbia Heights neighborhood, according to D.C. police.
The shooting occurred about 6:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of 14th Street NW. A police spokeswoman initially said the victim was reported unconscious and in need of life support. Police later confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the victim as Devonte Crawford, 20, of Northwest.
Authorities released few other details but said they were looking for a man between 20 and 25 years old with a slim build and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
Five other people were wounded in four shooting incidents in the District during a 121 / 2-hour period beginning late Monday.
The latest shooting occurred about 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, when police said a man was shot in the leg in the 2300 block of Harford Street SE. Earlier, a man was shot about 1:25 a.m. in the 200 block of 37th Street SE. Police said the victim was conscious at an area hospital.
Police said another man was shot about 11:35 p.m. in the 300 block of 53rd Street NE. A department spokeswoman said the victim suffered a graze wound to the back of his head and was expected to survive.
And police said two people, including a juvenile, were shot about 10:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Upsal Street SE. A spokeswoman said both victims were conscious. The juvenile’s age was not released.
Police said there is no indication that any of the shootings were related.
